CALIFORNIA Charity cycle challenge

Over 80 cyclists are tackling the Back to Back Century Challenge on August 17 to raise funds for physically challenged athletes to take up or increase their participation in sports...

The fundraising challenge across scenic yet tough routes, including grasslands and vineyards, will raise funds for the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) a charity that supports athletes, including amputees, with specialist equipment, plus competition and training expenses...



The ride is the third annual Northern California Back to Back Century Challenge for the charity....

CAF Executive Director, Virginia Tinley, says: “Aside from the epic scenery and world class amenities...the icing on the cake for this magical ride is continuing to help challenged athletes around the world receive the gifts of freedom and sport...”

Eight physically challenged athletes are taking part in the fundraising ride...

The event hopes to raise over $380,000 to support the charity’s efforts to help greater numbers of challenged athletes fulfil their potential...

Participants include Daniel Riley, a veteran who lost both his legs above the knee following an IED blast; and Willie Stewart who lost his arm in a construction accident...
