5 Ransom High Students form a Charity Band

Philanthropy NewsBeethoven said music “is the electrical soil in which the spirit lives, thinks and invents.” For many children today, that soil is devoid of fertilizer because of funding cuts to music programs in schools.

Five Ransom High School students are doing their part to till the soil and bring music to kids who can’t otherwise afford instruments or lessons. They formed a charity band called Reckless Youth. The name is misleading, because these kids are anything but reckless.

Lebanon HS Students Raise Money for "Thirst Project" Charity

Philanthropy NewsThe Thirst Project takes money raised to build fresh water wells for communities in Africa that don't have access to running water.  Cameron Hudson, along with his classmate Kate O'Rourke and others, started with small fundraising efforts but moved to something larger.  They held a dance-a-thon in March which raised the bulk of the money.

Sleepy Scouts Boost Charity Coffers

Sleepy Scouts Boost Charity CoffersThe opportunity to fundraise for UNICEF while having a snooze was too good an opportunity for 10th Chippenham Scout Group last weekend.

Scouts took part in the ‘great sleepover’ for the charity, with all the money raised going to provide mosquito nets for children living in malarial areas.

The event attracted much support from the warm-hearted youngsters, with 20 Cubs and Scouts from the 10th troupe, five leaders and even a Beaver from Corsham taking part in the challenge.
