Teachers Go Pink for Cause

Philanthropy NewsWhen Marie van den Berg sees the word cancer she thinks of her best friend who died from the disease.

That's why she organised teachers at Pakuranga College to paint their nails pink for a small donation to the worthy cause.

Mrs van den Berg says that when she saw a TV commercial about the Pink Ribbon Breakfasts she knew she wanted to get involved.


5 Ransom High Students form a Charity Band

Philanthropy NewsBeethoven said music “is the electrical soil in which the spirit lives, thinks and invents.” For many children today, that soil is devoid of fertilizer because of funding cuts to music programs in schools.

Five Ransom High School students are doing their part to till the soil and bring music to kids who can’t otherwise afford instruments or lessons. They formed a charity band called Reckless Youth. The name is misleading, because these kids are anything but reckless.


North Herts College Set to Host Charity Fashion Show

Philanthropy NewsThe event, organised by North Hertfordshire College, will be held on May 30 at the Broadway Hotel in Letchworth GC.

Fashion students from the college will be staging their own 30-minute catwalk, showcasing the collection they have designed for their end of year exams.
